Freemasons
Started a new contract with all 6 of us in the team starting the same time.

Within 2 days this guy is spouting how he's a Freemason, his dad is and brings in his little red book of mason things to learn, telling me about initiations and meetings etc.

Surely you keep it to yourself and don't use it as a self promotion tool?

Anyone? I know there are people who know / or are masons.

Re: Freemasons
Know a youngish lad (late 20s-early 30s) who's one and he doesn't stop posting imagery and check-ins to the local lodge on facebook.

He's self employed and seems to do very well for himself tbf, just always had them down as a mob of old men who enjoyed all the secret society stuff and doing each other favours, rather than some cool club or gang.

That's right.

To be honest, if you are capable of using Google, you can find most of the Masonic rituals.

Some of the lodges in canada or US even film their lodge meetings.

I will warn you, before you search youtube, they are dead fucking boring.

Right weird bunch of people, a lot of old bill are Freemasons

Apparently they do lots of things for charities and help local causes.

Re: Freemasons
united, I'd forget about most of the stuff you read about masons being full of police and judges etc.

Certain professions actually have their own lodges, which are more like clubs.

I was told that there is also a "celebrity" lodge.

Re: Freemasons
Just seems a really poncey way of networking tbf. Surprised people can be arsed with all that ceremony etc these days. Still that's probably what a lot of them enjoy.

Pretty sure my old boss was one, and most of them seem to do very well. So fair play to them. Personally couldn't think of anything more shit and boring than being in a room full of coppers and middle aged small business owners talking about whatever the fuck they do.

There are people out there who genuinely reckon they rule the world and stuff though.

Re: Freemasons
Like scouts innit?

On the one hand your lodge brothers help and shit.

On the other every murderous lunatic on the planet wants you dead and when the shit hits the fan anywhere Freemasons get murdered.

And for some strange reason Hamas and ISIL want the Rotary Club dead

Re: Freemasons
I suppose if you're a self employed builder or something it'd make a lot of sense to be part of a "club" so you get to know all the faces in the scene or whatever but just seems a bit unnecessary nowadays when we have Linkedin and checkatrade.

I've been to a few of their do's by invitation and whatever they might once have been, they are definitely as big a bunch of weird classless cunts I've ever seen...

Re: Freemasons
I have had family who were masons and friends of friends etc. You don't discover until the 33rd degree what you're really into and then it's hard to get out. It's an occultic web and, make no mistake, despite the public veneer of charity work, nasty business.

Sounds sinister.

"and then it's hard to get out."

How so?

Just googled to see whether the Rothschilds were all freemasons and found out that Wyatt Earp was one. FMOB.

Re: Freemasons
I know a few Mason's and apart from them sort of acting like they are in on some big secret, they are ok. They have said they get the majority of their work through Mason contacts so it's purely economical. They are a bit weird though.
